ぼくは朝、近所を30分歩く。その後、車で川に行くが、2、3分歩く程度で、ぼくだけ車に乗って、お父さんとお母さんは散歩に出る。犬が歩かないのは変だ、変人だと人は言うが、それを言うなら「変犬」だろう。でも犬はみな歩き好きというのは偏見だ。きょうは午後、高松の池にも行き、はじめ市立図書館の駐車場で、次は釣り堀のそばの駐車場で、お父さん、お母さんを待った。ぼくはいつも窓から2人の帰りを待つ。2人が車で話をするのを聞きながら家に帰る。それだけだが、ぼくはドライブと窓から外を眺めるのが大好きだ。

Every morning I walk around near my house for half an hour. Then, we go to a riverside, but after walking around there just for a few minutes I stay in the car, while Dad and Mom walk around. People say that I’m quite a character because I don’t want to walk so much. I think a ’character’ is a human, so they should rather say an ’odd dog.’ But it’s a stereotype to assume all dogs like walking. Today, in the afternoon, we also went to Lake Takamatsu. At first I waited for Mom and Dad at the City Library car park, and then at another parking lot near the fishing pond. I always look out of the window, waiting for them to come back. I listen to them talking together on our way home. That’s all I do, but I like going for a drive and looking out of the window.
お母さん：市立図書館で新聞記事のコピーを取ったし、ついでに池の周りも歩いたし、気持ちが良かったなあ。
お父さん：「公園内に犬を入れないこと」と立て札がたくさんあるけど、たくさん犬は歩いていたなあ。
お母さん：「犬のふんは飼い主が始末すること」とか「犬は放さないこと」というのもあった。犬を入れていいのか、悪いのか、はっきりしないなあ。
お父さん：ここは高松公園だし、犬は歩いてるし。道路は公園なのか、でないのか。そこが問題だ。

Mom: At the City Library we photocopied a newspaper article, and then we took our time walking around the lake. It was a refreshing walk.
Dad: I saw a lot of notices saying ”No dogs in the park.” But I also saw quite a few dogs walking.
Mom: Other notices said ”Owners, please clean up after your dogs,” or ”Keep your dog on the leash.” It’s not clear whether or not we can take dogs into the park.
Dad: This is Takamatsu Park and dogs are walking here. I wonder whether the road is a part of the park or not.
